Second pair of monster pants completed.

The customer picked several colors of yarns for this pair and told me to "have at it". This is what I managed to put together.

The colors remind me of a parrot. I love how the yellow, blue and orange go together.

The two monster pants are size 18 months, by the way. So will be the overall.

Now to start the overalls. Handpainted wool yarns in shades of blues and browns.

Sweet memories

During the past week, a couple of people I knew talked about having or making pasties for dinners.

That brought back a lot of memories of our time as students in UP Michigan. One of them was pasties. The school cafe made great tasting pasties. I worked there and I usually bought a few on Wednesdays after work for our dinner. They were cheap and so filling!

Ready to go in the oven.

I have made pasties now and then. I felt like having it for dinner tonight so why not?

I never used rutabaga in my pasties. That sucker is so hard to prep. I remember helping a lady (yet another of my part time jobs, helping elderlies in their homes) peel and cut a rutabaga to make pasties. Butcher knife wasn't going to do it. We had to a small machete. She had a small kitchen, too. I remember how that was making me nervous swinging that apparatus to whack the rutabaga in half. The lady stayed in the living room. ;-)

Anyways. I used chicken instead of beef in the pasties tonight. Just because I have cut up chicken ready to do. I used a lot of potatoes to make up the lack of rutabaga. Carrots and onions. I made the crusts myself. Easy to make with the help of my trusty food processor.

It's waiting for me on the counter. I am going to go and dig in. :)

Knitting longies to sell

I finished one Monster Pants last week and the owner is enjoying them now! It fits him well. :)

Yesterday, I bought yarns to make two more pairs of monster pants for another customer. When these are done, I'll get more yarn of different colors to make another two pairs for her babies. :)

Life is good. :)

Other than that, I finished three diaper covers and they will be in the mail tomorrow. For now, diapers production will have to be put on hold until I get all the knitting done.

Productive weekend!

I am tired. But it's the good kind of being tired.

My husband and I did a of things that we have been wanting to get done at our house this weekend.

We got the curtains up in all bedrooms on the second floor. I bought the material at JoAnn yesterday and today, and saved $120 on the fabric alone. The fleece were on sale, and I have several coupons to use.

We decided to use fleece for the curtains because, again, it would give nice insulation against the cold during this winter. I noticed that our bedroom was a bit warmer tonight and not drafty around the sliding door area like usual. It works!

Daughter's room. There is a bit of green in the fabric that matches the wall color.

The boys' room. Monsters!!! I love this print.

Our bedroom.

We also cleaned up daughter's room. Threw out a bunch of junk, sorted her clothes and gave away those that didn't fit anymore. We moved the furniture around so there would be enough room to put in a desk that we received from a family friend, and an empty floor space in the middle where she and her brothers could play.

It felt good to get all these done.

Hey look, an update! :)

It's been almost a month since my last post. I am getting bad at updating this blog. Two things; a baby and all of us have been taking turn being sick.

Yup. Those are enough to stop a lot of activities.

During this past month, I actually managed to sew a LOT of diapers; four pockets, six all-in-ones, six covers and twelve fitted. 28 pieces in all. One box of a dozen diapers went to Malaysia. I had a diaper order that went to Australia.

Out of those twelve fitted diapers, eight went to stock up my store and half of those are sold. I guess I better get busy again.

When I can find the time, that is.

I made two AIOs and a pocket for my son. Love them. I made them so it would make it easier for my husband to use. He wouldn't have to mess with the prefolds and covers, of which I like to use for son.

Right now, I am almost done knitting an overall for a friend's baby. After that, I have a commission to knit monster pants for another good friend's baby. :)

It's Fall and there are apples

We picked a bushel of apples yesterday. We have a half bushel of Golden Delicious for drying and snacking/lunch packs. We picked a half bushel of Macintosh and Jonathan, combined. These are for apple sauce and butter.

I have started a batch of apple sauce this morning.

Apple for sauce.

When it is done, I am planning on taking some out for the baby's food and keep on cooking the rest to make apple butter.

At the moment, the man is prepping the apple for drying.

Lots of apple goodness.

Enjoying what we sow

One of the several recent harvests.

We have been picking fruits off the vines every other day or so. Usually, this is how much we pick each time. I have 2 big bags of green beans in the fridge, some in the freezer. My husband dried enough tomatoes to fit in two 1-quart size containers. We've been making a lot of eggplants dishes for dinner.

Life is good.

This summer, we did not pick berries like the previous years. For one, the blueberry farm was not having enough berries for picking. Bad crop this year. We haven't been picking raspberries either. Second, we didn't have the time to do so. It was a busy season for husband at work. Then fasting month came.

It really doesn't matter to us since we have enough strawberry jams and preserves to last us a year.

We'll just wait for apples to be ready for picking. I'll make apple butter for sure. I just want the smell of apple butter cooking filling the house. :)

Moving on.

I managed to finish a short cardigan for my daughter! I am satisfied with that. I haven't been able to knit much these past few months (gee, I wonder why? *snort*)

I like how the cardigan turned out. I love it more that she LOVES wearing it. :)

12 fitteds and 4 covers on their way

I have completed a set of 12 flannel fitted diapers and 4 PUL diaper covers. All in one size, so the baby could wear them from age 3 to 4 months up to 24 months or longer. I hope the owner will find them useful. :)
